The former Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency (DCCEE) administered the program from March to September 2010, including finalising the grant assessment and selection process and negotiating the funding agreement. The former Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism (RET) was responsible for the majority of the program's implementation, from September 2010 to September 2013, when the Department of Industry assumed responsibility for the program. The objective of the audit was to assess the effectiveness of the administration of the Smart Grid, Smart City Program, including the establishment, implementation and ongoing management of the program.
