1961 brought the promise of a family to couple Tom and Dot Cornell. Until one day, several days past her due date, Dot nearly collapsed to the floor in excruciating pain. Knowing something was horrifically wrong, Dorothy made her way to the couch and laid down. She hadn't felt her baby move in days. Everyone said that was normal, but she knew in her heart it was not! Arriving home from work, her husband Tom found her out on the couch. She awakened to find herself in a pool of blood and they rushed to the hospital. Was their baby dead? What had happened? Were they never meant to be parents? Emergency surgery would change their lives and their destiny to be parents. Another's child might be their only way to become a mom and dad in the early 1960s. Patricia Ploss, originally from Midland, Michigan, makes her home in northwest Indiana with her husband Tony. She spends her time writing, walking, and spending time with her family and pets. Writing has been a passion of hers for many years, but only within the last three, has it become a reality in print. Patricia and Tony have two grown children. Dawson, 23, lives with them, having survived a car accident that left him with mild brain damage. Her first book, The Dandelion Picker, is a memoir based on his story and new reality. Daughter Rachel, 22, just graduated from IUPII with a Masters in Philanthropy, is newly married to Kyle Hettinger, and resides in Florida.
