A former client of Marc Kadella has returned. Along with three other men Marc's client was released from prison after it came to light that a doctored DNA test was used to convict them. One of them is wreaking grisly retribution upon the judges and lawyers who used this evidence to convict and send him to prison. Marc's client, a sadistic sociopath well known to the police, including Marc's P.I. friend Tony Carvelli, converted to Catholicism and claims to be a changed man. Tony and the cops don't buy it and he becomes suspect number one and is eventually arrested and charged with multiple murders. To make matters worse, Marc's old nemesis Craig Slocum the county attorney, is manipulating evidence to get a conviction and even his score with Marc, the man Slocum believes has cost him the governor's job.
