Lieutenant Alice Dicaro of the Los Angeles Police Department was finally coming to terms with the murder of her late husband Jamie Dicaro; when her past suddenly comes back to haunt her again. On third anniversary of Jamie's death; Alice is told the horrific news that Malcolm Duke, the person accused of Jamie's murder has broke out of jail; and is now on the run. Believing him to be very dangerous Alice does everything in her power to find and track him down, but when she finally does she is told something quite unremarkable by Malcolm. It transpires that Malcolm is in fact innocent and was being blackmailed into confessing the murder and that he was the one responsible for stalking Alice previously. Being a cop, Malcolm knows that Alice will not just take his word for it, so gives her some crucial leads into the trail of his innocence. But as she begins to unravel them and get closer to the truth, suddenly potential witnesses who can back his story up end up down the morgue. Realising that Malcolm could actually be telling the truth, she takes him under her wing and vows to protect him until this mess is over. However when she is not expecting it, he goes missing and she suddenly comes face to face with death herself in many ways; but thanks to some true friends she manages to be alright. The investigation leads her to a partner in which she has worked with for the last two years, and who she confided in when she was in a bad place and who she shared everything with; but alas it transpires that it was he (Lieutenant Steve Holden) who actually began stalking her for four months and who killed her husband. It is now down to Alice and the help of the FBI to track him down and stop him before anymore people meet a grisly end.
