A STREET SMART CRIME THRILLER AND URBAN FANTASY ADVENTURE Officer Michael Prim doesn't know much about his father, but remembers bedtime stories of mercenary wars, dragon slaying, and demon fighting. With his father gone, he serves as a hard charging beat cop in the Blue Point Police Department, never growing comfortable with the Dragon Badge they wear. He knows how to hunt down cop killing gang members, bring street justice down on wife beaters and child molesters, and put some muscle in police action. Yet something wicked is invading Blue Point, capturing souls and using the bodies as functional zombies to spread chaos and destruction. Soul stealing and zombie gang warfare has got to be a crime. Magic and sorcery had no place in police work before Travass Isegurad came with hellhounds, demons, and a relentless obsession to destroy the exiled son of the last Dragon Slayer. With the help of a burnt out, alcoholic cop who was kicked out of the seminary long ago, Prim learns that Travass is the most deadly serial killer alive and is executing an apocalyptic vendetta. Prim is forced to fight for his soul in a demon cage fight, stalked by hellhounds, and pays for the sins of his father. Learning of his heritage might be easier if his girlfriend was not at least half dragon and determined to be right in the action. The next 9-1-1 call may be the end of the world as we know it. If Prim fails, the gate to a dangerous alternate reality will swing wide, releasing monsters, wizards, and warrior lords to pillage humanity. Excerpt: Sanchez tossed his cigarette and stepped forward. "Are you going to kill him?" No one breathed. "For the record, no," said Michael. Sanchez nodded and put out a hand to his rookie for another cigarette, which came already lit. He pulled on it hard, inhaling like he was taking an asthma treatment. No smoke escaped from his lungs. "I just want all this out in the open. No rumors. No hidden agendas. Michael and I are the only people here who remember Klinton, and Greg for that matter. But just so we are clear, no one messes with Klinton. No getting even. No street justice. None of that movie crap. He is dangerous-once a cop killer, always a cop killer. Remember that." Excerpt: A chill went up Marin's spine and he felt like a quart of grain alcohol had been squeezed out of his brain. The old man was taller than him and stood with posture that a Marine Corps Sergeant of the 8th and I would be proud of. Yet it was more relaxed, like he could strike off Marin's head at will, sword or no sword. "I don't believe in magic, or sorcery, or Lawmen of the Twentieth Rank, for that matter," said Marin. "Right now I have a man with a sword and a lot of victims of sword wounds." "I have raised my sword against the Rashfellen, it is true. But I harm no innocent," said Cordain. "Ah, you are giving me a headache," said Marin.Cordain stared at him for a long moment and neither of them spoke. "What you believe and what you want to believe are not the same. You have met Travass, who is a sorcerer. You have seen the Sionk jars and felt the pull of the souls trapped within them. You have wondered about the strange eyes of Michael Prim and even the wizard in your city crest. If you open your eyes, you will see I wear the same dragon badge as you do."
