When he finished high school, he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in the Mid-Pacific area. He received degrees from Phillips University, Enid, Oklahoma, and from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas. He is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He has served as senior minister in churches in Texas, New Mexico, and Virginia. Dr. Parker is married to Ethyle Parker and they have three children-Paul, Linda, and Shari. Dr. and Mrs. Parker reside in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
