After a mission to Germany, the decorated Captain Pastornak is given the temporary duty of piloting a B-17 to America with a select cargo of VIP''s. He initiates a plan to have Nurse Mather replace the usual nurse/hostess on the flight crew. He sincerely believes a visit home for Mary Jane would rescue their floundering relationship. Meanwhile on the opposing side of the war in Europe, a quicksilver German spy, code named Albatross, has his own war to win. His daredevil plan is to kidnap US General Bedell Smith, who aided Eisenhower develop plans for the invasion of Europe. The key part of the abduction is to fly the General back to Germany. That act alone would prevent the D-day invasion. It would also secure Albatross praise from Hitler and a place in history. The VIP bomber, with the targeted General aboard, materialized before Albatross and he reaches for it.
