Check out the cover. That is the Davidson Glacier, which was discovered in 1867 and later visited by John Muir. It has been receding for more than a century. It used to reach tidewater but is now pulling back up the mountain. I had the pleasure of visiting the glacier in September 2017. To get there, three of us were taken by boat to a landing point about three miles from the glacier. From there we hiked on a somewhat marshy trail over hill and vale to a landing spot near the glacier where we were picked up by another boat so we could float through the glacier lake to land near the glacier. The first photo was taken as we floated on the glacier lake before landing. As you will see in the photographs, the glacier is infused with a blue hue, making for abstract photos. Notice also the ridges and valley on the glacier. Some of those reminded me of White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. Most of the output from the glacier is water, of course, but occasionally you will see what the guide called "icebergs." And for my final photo, some of the stones left behind.
