It was originally published in the Persian language and translated to English by The Institute for Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini's Works. After the Iranian Islamic revolution, based on teachings and guidelines of Imam Khomeini, the curriculum of schools, colleges and universities was revised to be in line with the aims and objectives of the Islamic government. The policies of the ministry of higher education, the ministry of education and training, the ministry of science and technology and the ministry of health were made based on the constitution of Islamic Republic of Iran. The book has eight sections comprising of Imam Khomeini's views on: The Great Value of Knowledge in Islam, The Condition of Iranian Universities before the Islamic Revolution, The Role of Universities in Cultural Revolution, The Mission of Universities, University Faculty Members in the view of Imam Khomeini, University Students in the views of Imam Khomeini, Pursuing Higher Education Abroad and finally Cooperation between Seminaries (Howzeh) and Universities.
