Measurements of the redesigned process show it to be a significant improvement over the existing process and to offer good potential for cycle time reduction. Costs required to support this initiative may prove to be a formidable constraint, however, and the risk exists that DoD may not be able to financially support full SPS implementation in the standard procurement process. Therefore, continued innovation is recommended. Further study is also required to investigate other innovation methodologies and ideas that may be suited for the standard procurement process.
