"Just Do You is an autobiography written by Jacqui. It is a young woman's journey from childhood to adulthood. Being diagnosed with Pseudoachondroplasia (Dwarfism) at the age of 4 and coping with the absence of her father, entrenched in her a battle of self-worth, abandonment and co-dependency. The book touches on the events that took place in Jacqui's life growing up. Some joyous and some devastating but because of her own personal conditioning, in adulthood, it was the devastating events that led her into an extremely desperate and dark space. In our darkest moments just the idea of getting out of bed can be overwhelming which was very true for her. This story is a build up to what almost saw Jacqui take her last breathe, before a shift in awareness was triggered. Her brave and eloquent words communicate the catalysts that would inspire positive change. It was a culmination of identifying beliefs and values, and discovering passion and purpose. Jacqui wanted a life that threw her out of bed in the morning, something fierce enough to ignite a fire inside. Jacqui had to unlearn what life had conditioned her to think, 'You need to do this. You shouldn't say that. You are not good enough and you don't deserve happiness', and relearn by way of reconditioning her inner dialogue, 'You are good enough. You are better than your negative thoughts. You deserve love and you are beautiful.' She then had to gain the confidence to honor her new found truth. Readers will find an element of spirituality and philosophy, especially towards the conclusion of the book. Jacqui does not consider herself a religious person and she feels strongly that one does not have to be, to practice faith or believe in something. When asked of her beliefs she simply replies, "I believe in me and my purpose and I believe in love, compassion and all things good", and this certainly resonates throughout her book.
