High School sweethearts Frankie Corey and Laura Ames finally established their careers, and a future together appeared to be within reach. Instead of a wedding, Laura found herself attending a funeral. When the young doctor loses Frankie, she believes any chance for love and happiness died with her soldier. When Charlie Corey, Frankie's youngest brother, enlists in the Army, his Bomb Ordnance Team is attacked in an Iraqi ambush. Members of the team are sent to SAMMC to recuperate and Laura becomes involved in Charlie's rehabilitation. While visiting at the hospital, Laura meets and falls in love with Caradan's District Attorney, Marc Thompson. She once again begins making plans for the future; however, members of Charlie's team are slowly being eliminated. The killer won't be satisfied until all members of the team are dead. When the doctor and district attorney discover a plot that stretches from the hospital all the way to Caradan, the killer's motive is unclear. Mistakes are made, more deaths occur and a twisted, tormented mind is revealed, threatening Laura's future happiness once more.
