=============== This is my Adderall story. =============== "Concentrating hard on something that's important, I can't succeed at all without doing it. I did not succeed in life by intelligence. I succeeded because I have a long attention span." - Charlie Munger (Billionaire Investor) "Concentration is the root of all the higher abilities in man." - Bruce Lee (1940-1973) "Concentration is why some athletes are better than others." - Edwin Moses (AmericanTrack and Field Athlete) "The Successful Lives Are the Concentrated Lives."- Theron Q. Dumont (Author of The Power of Concentration) "Concentration is the key to results. No other principle of effectiveness is violated as constantly today as the basic principle of concentration."- Peter F. Drucker (Author of The Effective Executive) "Concentration, itself, is nothing but a matter of control of the attention! ... Learn to fix your attention on a given subject, at will, for whatever length of time you choose, and you will have learned the secret passage-way to power and plenty! This is concentration!" - Napoleon Hill (1883-1970) "Concentration is the secret of strength in politics, in war, in trade, in short, in all management of human affairs." - Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) =============== A no-nonsense tough-love guide for those brave enough to quit Adderall. Are you sick and tired of taking Adderall and feeling like a robot? Are you ready to take back control of your life? First step: If you don't need it - i.e., you're only taking it to enhance performance - give it up. Second step: Develop an understanding of concentration; how to do it, how to maintain it, and how to use it. Third step: Adopt new techniques and strategies for minimizing distractions and maximizing your concentration. If I can quit Adderall after taking it for four years of usage - and still maintain a higher level of concentration - so can you! =============== This book was written to suggest ways for achieving higher levels of concentration: Level 2 (Access Concentration) and Level 3 (Fixed Penetration). This is not another book on mindfulness, nor is it centered around any particular religion or dogma. Instead, the book offers a practical approach for improving one's concentration through nutrition, supplements, psychotherapy and meditation (the platform, not ideology). The insights provided in this book were learned the hard way, by trial and error, in my personal search for alternatives to Adderall; a drug known for enhancing concentration. Like millions of Americans, I was blindsided by the allure of super sensory perceptions as depicted by mainstream media. Movies like Limitless and Lucy contribute to what I refer to as the "Limitless Hoax." This is a term I came up with to describe the false pretense that people succumb to after experiencing Adderall, or similar drug, and watching the movie Limitless or Lucy. More specifically, I am referring to the urban legend that people normally only use 10-15% of their brain capacity, but while on Adderall they are able to use 100% as depicted by the fictional drugs NZT 48 (from the movie Limitless) or CPH 4 (from the movie Lucy). As of a result, one can wrongfully assume that by taking Adderall, or similar drug, they are able to perform better at any given task, maximize their productivity, and ultimately achieve their full potential. However, as with anything of real significance in life, there are no shortcuts. You can't cheat the grind! You either put in the time to develop your craft or suffer the consequences. This book is an effort to share the various techniques and strategies that helped improve my concentration; for if they helped me, I felt it might also help others.
