I think we have viewed salvation the wrong way. As I have understood over the years there are two basic views. One, is that it is all the work of God, and we merely exercise faith to enter. It is immediately a finished work—Heaven awaits, come Hell or high water, or complete sinfulness and foolishness on our part. In the end it doesn't matter because we've been saved by God's grace. The other view is that we can lose our salvation through sinful living, and I suppose false teaching. I have a third view, and I will endeavor to lay out the Scriptures so you can see it as well.I spend as much time in Fellowship Prayer as I can, and one day while doing just that, these words were brought to my mind, “Salvation is a partnership.” I have been shown that this statement means that Jesus secures our salvation, and as our part is to diligently “abide in Christ” through obedience.We will see from both Mathew and John that Jesus taught this. That should be enough, but I will show from seven New Testament books that this is what the Bible teaches. I certainly did not set out to present what could be seen as a compromise between the “once saved always saved” crowd, and those who teach that “you can lose your salvation,” but in essence that is what I have done. While in one sense it is a compromise of these two views, and holds similarities to both of them, it is completely different from both of them. You would have to abandon them to embrace what I will be showing you. I hope you take the time to humbly read what I will be presenting.
