Description

Into the void George Washington became commander - the center of British resistance. An officer was so dirty Washington could not tell the rank. "You," he brushed his horse close by to gain his attention, "get the men ta fire at will! Keep moving 'em back, you understand?" Suddenly the man arched his back and staggered against the horse and fell. Washington quickly looked around and nudged a sergeant with his sword. "Move 'em back to the river," pointing to his rear, "keep 'em firing!" The sergeant looked up, "Sir, we ain't got no cartridges..." and collapsed in mid-sentence. The disaster known as the Battle of the Monongahela or Braddock's Defeat evolves into the first major battle of the French & Indian War. The prelude to war begins several years earlier as the English and the French attempt to control the Ohio River basin. Into the mix George Washington becomes the focal point of failed wilderness diplomacy. George W. This is his second historical fiction book centering on colonial conflicts. He and his wife Maggie live near Winston-Salem, NC.
