The author of RETRIBUTION, T. William, is a successful trial lawyer. After graduating from the University of Florida College Of Law, he was hired as an assistant public defender. Within the first year of that employment he tried more jury trials than most lawyers try in a career. He won practically all of them - which is unusual since the state prosecutors get to choose which cases actually end up going to trial. How did he do it? His answer is, "I out worked the other side." After one year as a PD, he was hired by the largest insurance defense firm in Northeast Florida. He was fortunate to be placed with a future Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice for mentoring. Together they tried dozens of jury trials and together they won most of them. How was that possible? His answer is, "We worked harder and prepared more then the other side." Another opportunity came for a career change. Along with three other men he formed a law ? rm. Although at first they would take anything that came through the door in order to cover the overhead, within a few years he was exclusively handling and trying plaintiffs' cases in civil court rooms. Soon he was almost exclusively handling complex litigation cases such as product liability and medical negligence. Probably a majority of his cases were referrals from other lawyers. When he went to trial, he most often won. How did he do it? His answer is, "greater preparation and harder work." Because of the type of work he handled, it was necessary for 'William to travel about 100,000 miles a year to take depositions and meet experts. He found that a lonely existence. To pass time while on planes or spending the night in hotels, he started writing. The result is this work, RETRIBUTION.
