Funded by the UCA Office of Study Abroad and the UCA Schedler's Honor College, I was able to go to Shanghai, China and study Chinese for six weeks in the summer of 2017 at East China Normal University (ECNU). My UCA classmates and I were dropped into the program in the last month of their semester, placed in different level classes, and studied accordingly. It was not all work and no play, however; that is not the main focus of this work. This visual work is meant to illustrate my experiences during those six weeks and give the viewer a feel for what they might experience if they choose to do the same program by putting the viewer in my place using 1st person POV for the major of the illustrations. I guide the reader through various situations and clarify some cultural aspects specific to China.
