Spanish Days, Suarez's 9th book, chronicles the three years he lived in Spain (November 2006-November 2009) which transformed his life from living in the US to Europe, and helped make Suarez a better writer as he transitioned from boy to man upon his return to the US. Over the course of three years, Suarez immerses himself in Spanish culture, thoroughly gets to know the bohemian life of Zaragoza, the beaches of Valencia, and the streets of Madrid and Barcelona. Suarez describes his serious relationships with two women he met in Europe. As Suarez reads Orwell and Hemingway in Spain and their experiences there, he grows an increasingly appreciation for the history of that country, which also forms part of his heritage. Suarez spends most of his time in Zaragoza, a town not far from where the great Spanish painter Goya was from. Suarez lives with his father who had gone there before him, but also makes his own money teaching English. Everywhere he goes in the country he learns, including when he worked as a salesman doing business with other immigrants. He also has a few run ins with Spanish police. Join Spanish Days, and embark on the journey of a young writer whose passions are just beginning and help him go on to publish several other books before Suarez's 30th birthday in the land of Cervantes. This is Suarez's second semi-autobiographical work about an important part of his life, and as many parts of his life, also involves tragedy. Enjoy Spanish Days, as only Al R Suarez can describe it. He was also while in Europe able to go to Ireland but this book is about Spain. This book is dedicated to Anne Hemingway.
