"The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of Aggression Replacement Training (ART) on interpersonal relationship skills. Archival data from programs within a juvenile justice system in Northern California, including pre and post measures from 50 adolescents who participated in ART while incarcerated, were reviewed and analyzed. The Youth Outcome Questionnaire-Self-Report 2.0 (Y-OQ-SR 2.0) measure had been administered pre and post ART intervention. The interpersonal relationships index from the Y-OQ-SR 2.0 was also administered and results were considered for this study. The importance of interpersonal relationships was presented through the lens of Maslow's (1954) hierarchy of needs. Maslow's theory emphasizes the importance of experiencing love, affection, and belonging. Based on the analysis of the results of the pre and post ART data, it cannot be determined what type of impact ART had on interpersonal relationship skills. Results included reports of positive change, negative change, and no change responses."--Abstract, p. 1.
