TAKE A LAP is the story of the Rainier Beach Athletic Club Ramblers, later called the Seattle Ramblers Semiprofessional Football Team. In 1948, the Northwest League was formed. Under the tutelege of Don Sprinkle, for all but two seasons, the Rainier Beach Athletic Club Ramblers & Seattle Ramblers provided a substantial chapter in amateur team sports history of the Pacific Northwest...1948 through 1964. In 1950, when the Northwest League disbanded, the team become known as the Seattle Ramblers. Coach Don Sprinkle had an additional responsibility of forming an independent schedule. Opposition for the Ramblers from 1950 through 1964 included other semiprofessional teams from the United States & Canada, from junior colleges, 4-year colleges & universities. Other opponents represented prisons, military bases, all-star & even "wrestler" football teams. The Ramblers played in 34 charity & benefit games. By the end of the 1961 season, the Ramblers had raised over $65,000 for charity. The Rambler record, 1948 through 1964: Won - 110; Lost - 46; Tied - 3; Points For - 3,534; Points Against - 1,611.
