[ Visit us at: - www.myfirstjewishreader.com - to see full range of products and further information - ]The My First Jewish Reader Series were written with two purposes in mind: * To create an effective reading program that is enjoyable for the young Jewish student. * To maintain the genre and purpose of Jewish children's literature; which is to promote Torah values and middos tovos. These books have been created without compromising either of these values. My First Jewish Reader Series is a complete reading program founded on effective, researched-based pedagogy. The readers follow a phonetic approach (the decoding of words through their letter-sound relationship). Incorporated in the series are the common non-phonetic words, these are termed special words throughout the series. The ability to read phonetically and the knowledge of these words allows the student to access over 95% of English literature. Appended to each book is a set of comprehension questions and a list of common words related to the focus letters of that book. Most of these words are sourced from the 300 most common words and aim to reinforce the letters learnt and increase fluency. There is also a coloring-in reader activity book available to encourage the student to revisit the reader and as a viable option for obtaining a class set for schools. All books are not just words to decode, but complete stories that relate to the child's world within the Jewish context. The student's ability to relate to the content they are reading has been shown to have positive effects on academic growth. This series was inspired by my Rebbe's words that when it comes to chinuch there should be no compromises. All books therefore contain only kosher images, middos tovos and engaging scenarios that the student can relate to. With Hashem's help these books will be successful in fulfilling both its aims: helping your child develop their reading skills and instilling our Jewish Torah values.
