Description

"The 3-Dimensional Boy" is the story of four unlikely friends thrown together by an improbable event and a challenge that could destroy the world. But before they can prevail, they must learn what it means to be human. The story is told from four points of view, which don't always agree. Bethany "Biff" Potts, martial arts black belt, befriends Thomas Chan, a computing genius with a personality "on the spectrum." While showing Biff over his father's university laboratory, Tom accidentally creates a living 3D copy of himself. They name the doppelgänger Ben and try to pass him off as Tom's long-lost twin brother from China. Evil billionaire Ghastly Gorgon has a scheme to clone world leaders and use the replicants to take over their countries. But Gorgon's Replicator machine is faulty and its copies are grotesquely imperfect "Glitches." When Biff's cousin Pandora posts a selfie on-line, showing Tom and Ben together, Gorgon sends thugs to kidnap the two boys, but Biff fights back, and the kidnappers only succeed in abducting Ben, the clone. Biff, Tom and Pandora force Gorgon's brow-beaten nephew Gormley to lead them to the laboratory beneath the Gorgon Tower Hotel where Ben is being held captive. The would-be rescuers become lost in an abandoned complex of WW2 tunnels, where they encounter Gorgon's rejected Glitches and the eccentric old couple who are caring for them. While exploring "Earthworm City" and attempting several abortive rescue attempts, both Tom and Gormley uncover hidden family secrets, Pandora discovers her inner heroine and Biff learns that to be a leader she must stop judging people. With the aid of Ben's extraordinary skills, Gorgon succeeds in making perfect clones of the world leaders. But the Glitches, who also have remarkable attributes, aid the foursome to pull the plug on Gorgon's evil scheme. The ending is all about fulfilment: celebrity-obsessed Pandora meets a VIP who is truly worth worshiping; Gormley is reunited with his parents; Biff reconciles her estranged mother and father; and Ben-the 3-dimensional boy-is quietly welcomed into Tom's family. But Gorgon escapes... opening the possibility of a sequel.
