Description

By the late 1800's the pinnacle of genocide of the American Indian by the European invasion of the New World was in its last gasp. The last roving brigands of Native Americans invaded small parties of settlers migrating west. It was harsh times for everyone. The brigands were merciless but spared the children. Thus, religious orders of Protestant and Catholic Missions harbored these children and raised them and as orphans grew and married. Melody Taylor, a young wife with child witnessed her husband and family massacred. She at the headland of a river below took refuge in a river far below into freezing water. Scouts and Mountain men found her drowned and cut out the child from her womb. From hypothermia and oxygen deprivation, the boy child was blue. Thus the boy by and old Indian Chief, named the boy Tenorio and and given that Tenorio was blessed with goodness and beauty, the old Chief foretold he would love many women and women would love him. Yet the boy never acquired the concept of intangibles. He learned by rote from observation. In a bout of ignorance and insensitivity the monsignor of the mission married in their young lives Nasha and Tenorio. He in essence saddled her with a young man whom lacked cognizant conceptual thought process. A sea faring sailor now a keeper of the gardens and the flower beds taught Tenorio the craft and he understood the nuances of the activity. An instinctual inherent behavior of Tenorio his circumstances not withstanding, which was not erased by his malady was Life's will to procreate. The most powerful force in all existence: The will to procreate which walks hand in hand with the most pleasurable of the senses. So he had to be harnessed because of his open and brazen proclivity. To the young women in the mission he is irresistible. To further aggravate the environment, his mentor of the gardens and flowers teaches him by rote the art of love making. To the chagrin of the monsignor and a rampant of pregnancies, he is forced to move them into the nearby flourishing town. His wife's ingenuity and his talent on the gardens and and his love-making talent; her work as an aid in the local hospital, they survive hard times.
