A group of Tibetan monks come to Culver to build and then destroy a mandala; their presence triggers a vicious attack on the boys' classmate Jessica, leading to a healing ceremony for her performed by the Lama. Events rise to a crescendo when two cadets are captured by the rogue Indians-this leads to a titanic struggle in the Council Ring between the forces of good and evil.
