When Thaddeus Murfee agreed to defend a young woman accused of murdering the man who carved his name in her chest, he thought that he and his new law practice were on their way. However, the Chicago Mob schemed to send the young woman to the death chamber in order to cover up its payola with the governor. Thaddeus craves the riches and fame that a successful trial lawyer can have, but he doesn't realize the price he is going to have to pay once the mob sends its enforcers after him. A hard fought trial is followed by a face off on a dark night between Thaddeus and Johnny "the Blade" Bladanni. You never win against the Mob, he is warned. Now the FBI has the lowdown on the players and Thaddeus needs their help but is afraid they will come after his client too. Thaddeus is caught between a rock and a hard place, with no choice-if he wants to live and set his client free.
