Description

Reverend Charles A. Goodrich was an American author and Congressional minister. He was well known for writing works Bible studies and works on American history. An interesting fact about Goodrich is that he is credited with having the first printed citation of the epigram 'Have a place for every thing, and keep every thing in its proper place', which appeared in an article called 'Neatness', in the Ohio Repository in 1927. This particular work is a collection of short writings on the tradition of the Sabbath. Here is an extract from the authors preface: 'A FEW of the pieces, which make up the present volume, are original, as are also the reflections, which occasionally follow other pieces; but the work is chiefly a compilation, consisting of Tales and Anecdotes, which have been collected from various sources, with reference to a particular object - viz. an interesting and instructive book for the Sabbath.' To compliment the republication of this work, a short introductory biography has been included to help place the book in its historical context.
