Description

Do you realise the Bible is in a way a Love Story? I know that must sound such an incredible statement, yet in so many ways that is exactly what the Old and New Testament is. As in the Old Testament it is the preparation of Christ to his coming in flesh.God created us for his pleasure and preordained some to be with Christ, knowing before the Sin of Adam the fate of humanity. Scriptures tell us there was a war in the heavens as pride had entered the hearts of certain angels and this in part could explain why God hates pride in humanity, as it created a situation where we became separated from him, our God.Further explanations to be found in the book.Life as A Christian. So, let us start with those most important and precious of our members in the body of the church and usually the most overlooked.Old Age:However, now you have served our Lord and the young look at you and think you are an old fossil, or a dinosaur, and never having lived let alone experienced the pains of youth and of growing up. And certainly, you have never in their eyes gone through the emotions of life which they are experiencing. So, you are retired and past it as the youth say, grandad or grammar and now an old fogey, well in their eyes that is. So, what do you do? Go away and sulk, pack your suitcase and go on a Mediterranean cruise, take up gardening or play bowls, golf or even take up Kick Boxing, (Well maybe not kick boxing you might hurt someone from laughter).Or do we turn to God and talk to him as an OLD friend. Forgive the pun (OLD) mind you he our God is just a bit older than us collectively put together, so he probably laughed anyway. If the book suddenly ends here, then maybe he didn't laugh. Ouch I won't think like that. So, you are old and in our younger generations eyes that is a crime, until it comes for them wanting pocket money, advice or financial help from the Bank of Mum and Dad or in our case Grandpa and Grandma. I have reached the tender young age of 65 and am retired by the states eyes, passed it and deserve to live the rest of my life in dignity. Well that is the official view point they give out. One of my friends is 94 years of age and loving life and holding onto every day as a gift from God. She wants to carry on living as she loves God and has invited Christ Jesus into her life. She says. 'Life is a gift from God and to be enjoyed.' And she has a point, even the aches and pains and in her case loss of eyes sight and hearing rapidly going. Yet in her mind she is young, it is just the body no longer wants to follow her mind, it thinks it needs a full service and wonders if it will ever get through another M.O.T. before it becomes scrapped on the junk pile of life.Honestly is that what God intended for us, to end up on the junk pile? I think not. We have years of experience and can teach so much, but on reflection I had to ask my grandson aged 12 years how to operate these new smart phones. So maybe it kind of works both ways. But I understand why we are looked upon as OLD, and passed it... whatever.
