The Trial of Jesus. Its illegality, argued by Hon. John Evan Richards, Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals for the First District of California, and its legality contended for by Dr. S. Srinivassa Aiyar, High Court Vakil of Mylapore, India, forms one volume. This book we find to be unusually interesting, the subject of course is one of the greatest in importance in the Christian world today. From it we can get a clearer idea of the real facts pertaining to the trial of Jesus than many of us ever had an opportunity of getting before. Hon. John Evan Richards gives a splendid argument from the legal standpoint setting forth the illegality of the trial of Jesus. He reviews this most tragic trial from every standpoint giving a perfect and complete exposition of the event. Upon the opposite side Dr. S. Srinivassa Aiyar, late editor of the Criminal Law Review of Madras, upholds the legality of Christ's trial. He argues that Jesus was given a fair trial on charges which constituted an offense against the prevailing law of the Roman empire in a court of competent jurisdiction for an infraction of the law's decrees. He, naturally, treats of the same facts that Judge Richards does but their conclusions are different entirely. --New Charlotte Medical Journal, Vol. 69
