The End Times are a lot closer than you think. Jack Kant and Angela Bow don't have a lot, but they do have each other. Jack's a journalist whose career tanked when he went up against a billionaire - and lost. Angela is a resourceful documentary researcher and not above kicking a wiseguy in the balls. But then he receives a mysterious package from a disgruntled, ex-church official. Oh, he's got dirt on the good reverend, like his wife's earlier porno career and some questionable financial dealings, however, Jack and Angela are baffled by a few of the other items in the package: A binder titled The Rosetta Project, apparently industrial secrets involving so called junk DNA, a locked Iron Key flash drive, and a flyer describing the dangers of liquid natural gas facilities - on it, the phrase fifty-five Hiroshima bombs is circled. Meanwhile, Ziad Berry is boarding a plane at Los Angeles International Airport. He is about to test a major flaw in TSA screening procedures. His intentions are not good. He is a lone wolf, but with inspiration . . . from where? Analyst Carolyn Jaynes, at CIA headquarters in Langley Virginia, has a timely, but amorphous, tip about Ziad's flight and needs to learn more, quick, without causing an international incident, but the layers run deeper than she can imagine. At a desert airbase in California, the newly resurrected Phoenix ABL, the Missile Defense Agency's 747, converted into a flying, missile-zapping laser platform, is waiting to prove that newly made improvements to its Chemical Oxide Iodine Laser can achieve the firing distance the original $5 billion program promised and never delivered. It's hanging by a financial thread and a successful demonstration for the President and Secretary of Defense may be its last hope. A website dedicated to the accidental shooting down of Iranian Airbus A300B2 (by the USS Vincennes in July 1988, killing 290 civilians) has claimed an Iran-backed vengeful retaliation has finally occurred. But it hasn't. Yet. One thing's for sure, Jack and Angela are soon swept into the middle of the whole conspiracy. Before he can get his bearings, he discovers he is being framed for a double murder, and must elude a police manhunt winding through the streets, hills and mansions of Hollywood. And Angela's six-year-old niece has been abducted. Who in Heaven or Hell are they dealing with? Someone who wants what Kant and Bow have. Someone who will stop at nothing. Someone who wants to trigger Armageddon. And a particular war, in a particular location, is the spark that will reveal the fulfillment of prophecy. Kant has a lot on his plate, and no idea he's dealing with the dark side of three major religions. And who's really pulling the levers? Is anyone? Ever?
