Description

Fifty years ago, we stumbled upon an ancient power hidden in the earth's trees. So-called 'Believing Trees'. Who left it there we do not know or why. Ultra-secret, human enhancement program, Operation Trident has been attempting to harness this power for the good of humankind ever since it was discovered with little results. Now, a dark fraction within Trident lead by a psychotic genius is gaining momentum and changing that trajectory fast. Their goal; wipe the human race clean and start again. At 52, Cameron Hayes is bored and irritable four years into his retirement from a legendary special forces military career. That doesn't matter much because the tumor growing in his brain has deleted certain parts of his memory, and he will be dead within three years anyway. So his doctors say. When his only living friend, renowned Israeli scientist, Dr. Goerge Saniki, is executed two feet away by a sniper at a San Diego hotel pool, Cameron is slammed into a nonstop pursuit, chasing down those responsible. While hot on the trail, Cameron meets Helen Hendricks, who knows more about his past than he knows himself, and he suspects this is not a good thing.Together they hunt for the killers but find themselves back in the murky depths of Operation Trident. Time is not on their side, everyone they meet wants them dead, and Cameron's past catches up with him, which threatens to be the biggest problem of all for everyone. Can they stop the evil forces and save humankind? Great book! I don't quite know what genre it's in, a good mixture of a few but a very enjoyable read, and will look forward to the next one with relish - Goodreads review by DJ Hoyle Reading it now. Great story. When does book 2 come out? The Past:Twenty-five years ago, Staff Sargeant Cameron Hayes led a hand-picked SAS reconnaissance team during a routine mission high up on a remote plateau in Bosnia. The date was 1995, and the bruising conflict was almost coming to an end, at least publicly. It was supposed to be an 'in and out', operation, routine with little to report, but the patrol encountered an ancient power that changed them forever and swept them deep into a highly covert, off the record, multi-country black ops program; Operation Trident.
