The Mortician's Daughter is a fantasy story of a young girl who narrates her humorous life growing up as the daughter of an embalmer-mortician whose job is to earn money by beautifying the dead. It also takes her father on adventures in the world of the dead so her daughter could be freed from the tooth pendant which slowly begins to tighten around her neck as she gets older and wants to mysteriously stay hanging on her chest. ln the second sequel, The Golden House, the mortician's daughter is now a teen and father and daughter visit this house in Eternity where people who died a sudden death work as servants. Both of them need to go there during the two day festivities of the Chinese New Year to break the clasp of the dragon tooth necklace. The daughter has to take the place of the servant boy who is in The Golden House who died in her place in the accident because the dragon tooth saved her. She needs to make him happy at the end of those two days for only when he says he is happy could the clasp be broken. While there, she also discovers that because of her dragon tooth pendant and her ancestral heritage, she is the only key who could open the gateway between the earth (Land of the Living) and eternity (Land of the Dead) so that there could be everlasting peace and happiness in both realms. As she matures and gets older, her father dies and she is left alone. Before he dies, he tells her a well-guarded secret about her past that pushed her to go on a wild search for her two siblings. She also learns that she is being pursued by three halves, ghouls who prey on humans as she is closely related to them in their family tree for she is also the key for the halves to become normal people again in the last sequel, Christmas Funeral Home.
