Introduction:After suffering a minor concussion in the postseason games, Derek decides that it is time to end his career as a running back for the National Football League before his career ends his life. Derek and his best buddy, Sandy, a golden retriever, take a much deserved vacation to visit Derek "s parents at the old homestead in eastern Colorado. While there Derek meets a very intriguing young man named Craig. There seems to be a secret about Craig, though, that Derek "s parents do not want their son to know, but for some reason they do not want Derek to become involved with this young man who Derek cannot seem to resist.Excerpt:Derek had been a running back for the Tennessee Titans until he had suffered a mild concussion last year, courtesy of a defensive end from an opposing team. Derek had made a speedy recovery, but wasn "t willing to tempt fate. Derek had made a promise to himself years ago that if he got hurt, he got out. After ten years of professional football, Derek "s body had taken all the hits that Derek was going to demand of it. Still, the preseason games were right around the corner and Derek knew that when the season started, he would miss being part of the big game. Football was America "s game, and the roar of the crowd could be intoxicating to guys like Derek. SOh, Sandy, what will we do, just the two of us? The dog turned to look at Derek for a second, but then quickly returned to the feel of the wind flapping his ears. ********Derek walked around to the front door and knocked lightly. When he knocked, he noticed that the lights began to go off one by one. SOkay, Sandy, someone is definitely in there. Come on. The dog was at his side as Derek knocked again. The house was completely dark, but the door was not locked. Derek slowly opened the door. SKnock, knock, he said. SAnyone home? There was no answer, but Derek hadn "t really expected an answer, given the oddness of the situation. Derek and Sandy slowly walked inside. Derek flipped the nearest wall switch to turn on at least one light. SHey, if you "re in here, I won "t hurt you. I promise. Craig, are you here? Derek heard something fall, and it sounded as if it was coming from the kitchen. He and Sandy walked slowly into the kitchen. Derek turned on the kitchen light. Standing silently along the far side of the kitchen was Craig. SCraig, why are you hiding? ********Craig set his glass down, and then took Derek "s glass from him. SCome here, Derek, he said, taking his hand and pulling him to his feet. SWhoa. You may have to hold me up. Where are we going? He took Derek "s hands in his and then placed them around his waist. Then he put his arms around Derek. SYou know it "s there. You feel it, too, don "t you? Derek did feel it, but did not want to admit it. Craig "s scent was killing him with its intoxicating erotic manliness. SWhat do you mean? he asked.
