This Family History Book, traces the Baker Family Line back to the year 1645. In the records of Johann Becker (1760-1822) are the personal accounts of how, as a Hessian (German) Soldier, he fought with the British against the American Colonial Army. After several hard won Battles in New York, he realized that he was on the wrong side of the War. In comparison to fighting or dying for the King of England and returning to serve the Monarch of Germany, Johann elected to change his name to John Baker, and fight for George Washington and the Continental Congress. Freedom, Land and Prosperity are powerful motivators. He built a homestead in Virginia and paid for his Mother and Father's passage to America. His Great Grandson, Jacob H. Baker, would again take the mantel of Military service to his Country, and serve in the Heavy Artillery Brigade of the 2nd Regiment, 112th Pennsylvanian Volunteers during the Civil War. And his Great Grandson x5, Lee B. Baker, would serve over 20 years in the United States Army. And in perspective, he (Johann Becker) was the Great Grandson x3 of, Johannes Becker who was born in Darmstadt-Dieburg in 1645. The book contains a biographical sketch of the 5 Baker Generations that Lee Baker has known. At the age of 63, Lee recounts his Military Career with The National Security Agency (Classified information at the Time) and his research and meeting with significant WWII personalities. This Family History Book provides a well-documented foundation for future Baker Generations to both build on and reflect on. A detailed account of the many Baker Family Heirlooms is provided to ensure that the true History of these cherished Family treasures is not lost to time, after the passing of the current Baker Generation.
