Omar would face more adversity when he was arrested twice for alcohol related offenses, and he would find himself with no financial means of caring for himself. It was during this time when Omar's life would miraculously change. On the verge of losing everything, Omar prayed and asked God to save his life or take it. It was during this time when Omar started attending his childhood church and found new hope through a 12-step program called Celebrate Recovery. Omar went on to become a mentor and a group leader for men struggling with alcohol addiction and substance abuse. Simultaneously, Omar felt God calling him to a higher purpose. After finding his sobriety, in 2014, Omar sponsored himself and graduated from the Police Academy. Omar then began his uphill journey to becoming a Police Officer. Due to Omar's history and background, his law enforcement career would have a slow and rough start. However, Omar defied the odds and demonstrated that through faith in God, mental transformation, and a relentless attitude to succeed, you can accomplish insurmountable goals. Omar would go on to become a decorated Police Officer receiving various awards including Police Officer of the year and multiple lifesaving awards. In addition, Omar excelled as a Police Officer, and Omar would be promoted to a Detective where he received extensive training in criminal investigations and specialized in gangs, narcotics, and violent crime investigations. Omar was also part of his departments tactical team that was responsible for conducted numerous high-risk search warrants and arrest warrants.
