Born in Ireland in 1915, Leonard Wibberley spent an adventure-filled childhood there and in England. His father's untimely death when Leonard was fifteen years old forced him to make his own way in the world. Finding work as a cub reporter for a London newspaper he discovered a passion for writing that led to a twenty year career in journalism that took him from London to Trinidad to New York City and finally to Los Angeles where Wibberley left the newspaper business to become a full-time author. From 1952 until his death in 1983 Leonard Wibberley wrote over 100 books and plays (an average of 4 publications a year).
