Lysh has always been vaguely aware that there is something unusual about her family, something no wants to talk about, not even her best friends Annilee and Geoff, or Robin, who loves her. But it isn't until a stranger gives her a scroll bearing a legend that is not really a legend that she begins to be troubled. The story says that her famous grandmother who disappeared when Lysh was a child, was the daughter of one of the crimson-haired Fae folk, who are rumored to dwell beyond the nearby Perilous Wood. Now the vivid red highlights of her hair take on significance, but not nearly as much as the voices she has heard from the Wood, calling her name. Following the call, Lysh finds herself swept away into the world inside the hill of the Fae, where she is one day to be the next queen. Under the enchantment of the hill she lives a life that is happy, yet not complete, vaguely aware that she has lost something from her memory. Meanwhile back in her village, three people have separately determined to go in search of her, each armed with a unique gift. As they set off, one at a time, none of them are aware of the challenges that lie before them. But will one or all of them succeed in finding the hill and freeing Lysh? And what price will they have to pay?
