"Sir, I know this sounds crazy, but do you remember the American woman I bumped into in Istanbul? She hurt her leg, and you took her to your doctor." "Vaguely. Why do you ask Joseph?" "Because she is sitting two tables behind you," Joseph answers. "Are you sure it's her?" "Of course I do. Isn't that what you pay me for?" Ender turns around and looks at the woman. He can't be sure from the back, but there's only one way to find out. He walks over to the table. Next, he pulls out a chair next to her and sits down. "How's your ankle?" When the woman looks at him and says she didn't ask him to join her, Ender knows it's her. The amber sparks ignite in her angry eyes, and he catches a whiff of the fragrance he hadn't forgotten. Next, she tells him he should fire his doctor, which catches him off guard. When Ender asks the woman why. She shows him an ankle with wide scars. She explains her ankle was broken, and she had to have surgery on it when she returned home. Then the woman surprises him again when he says she probably expects an apology from him. She remembers Ender's words about being a busy, important man and says she doesn't expect an apology from a man like him. However, when she asks why he's in Miami, he replies on business and gets a typical sarcastic response from her. Next, she nearly pushed her plate off the table. Then, she got up and left with the ocean breeze catching her fragrance and blowing it right into his face. Ender inhales deeply and looks down at the table. He rubs his forehead, remembering he spent months trying to find out what the fragrance was. Finally, Ender and a woman whose name he can't remember visited a botanical garden in Istanbul. It was there he found out it was jasmine. Ender vowed to himself if he ever saw the woman again, he would know her by the smell of jasmine and the amber sparks that explode from her angry eyes. Out of all the women in the world and all the places Ender had visited in the past two years, he finally came into contact with her again. Closing his eyes, Ender can still picture her lying on his bed and him bending down to kiss her perfect lips.
