Description

God is Alpha and Omega, He is the beginning and the End. He is, was and will forever be . Omniscient. Omnipotent. Omnipresent. There is nothing that happens in our lives that he missed, or takes Him by surprise. He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. It's difficult on some days, even as a Christian to hold on to faith. But, wow - what does one do if they don't have an intimate relationship with Jesus when crisis comes? Some delve into drugs or alcohol. Some turn to sex. Some even become violent to turn the situation around. For an ordinary middle-class family in a quaint town of North Carolina, having a Doctor for a father means endless treatments with NO waiting, all the free tongue depressors one could find a use for, and of course... the first to receive flu shots every year. Dr. Tom Baxter, was happy running his family practice and watching his two awesome 16-year old twins develop into fine young adults, while enjoying walks and movies with his sweetheart, Jean of 'ummm-teen' years or so. (Who's counting, anyway?) Then. It. Happened. Illness struck. Tom's training couldn't save the day for his own Daughter. Though she'd always thought her Daddy was Dr. Superman, this time... Life support was keeping her alive while a team of specialists had to revert to the process of elimination to find the cause of Allison nearly bleeding to death on a restroom floor at a convenience store. -How would life ever be normal again? -I'll never be able to be a Doctor, like I'd hoped... not in this condition. -How dare we beg God to help us, when I can't even remember the last time we prayed or visited a church, besides a funeral service. -I miss my friends. I miss my life. I miss my bed. I miss being normal. Alex Baxter loved his sister with all his heart. She had been his best friend their entire lives, his being 6 minutes shorter than hers. He would do anything for her. Anything. Life would never be the same after that four-hour drive, but then again... every moment we live has the potential to be life changing. It's up to us, to let it pass - grab it and run with it. What Allison Baxter needed was a miracle. But, the miracle God had for her wasn't at all what she had her heart set on. Would she see it as a Second Chance or would she brush it off as being beneath her? Miracles come in many shapes and sizes... Only God knows what the miracle looks like, He has for her; will she recognize it? One thing is for sure... Whether we see Him or not, God is ready and waiting for us. Two Cardiac arrests. Six weeks in the Intensive Care Unit. Hope comes, along with the prognosis ...and then begins to fail; but God has a plan. Is Allison Baxter, seventeen year old daughter of the Dr. Baxter capable of walking by faith and not by sight? Or will she find herself blinded by her fleshly emotions. Can her friends, family and her Pastor convince her to trust God despite her initial reaction? "Does God really think that I can do this?" She sobbed into her pillow, knowing that absolutely no one else on earth understood her reluctance to accept this miracle. She remained determined to die rather than live with that for the rest of her life. From the Dugout, to the Pulpit, this riveting journey exemplifies the enormously fine line inevitably faced by every Christian between faith and fear while experiencing life and death, sickness and health and love and hate ultimately challenging us to forgive while inspiring us all to LIVE.
