So twenty-five members of Mike 22 Civil Affairs Team Alpha were mobilized and attached to the 20th Special Forces Group, and together they deployed to Afghanistan. They were not Green Berets; they were just a conventional Civil Affairs unit. This is the unique story of the members of Mike 22 Civil Affairs Team Alpha and how they lived and fought with the Green Berets in the Hindu Kush Mountains and, in doing so, earned their respect and admiration. Michael G. Skelly went to Afghanistan when he was 43 years old. He grew up in Bath, New York, and still resides there with his wife and children.
