Lishitha was a beautiful girl and she was living in Delhi with her parents. For MPhil, she secured only second class and hence she did not get admission for PhD. She was deeply in love with her classmate, Renjith Singh from Bharatpur. He joined PhD course in Chandigarh and Lishitha lost one year. That love affair did not last long. She was later engaged to one Narendran who was a programme executive in Doordarshan. During this period, she lost her right hand in a Railway accident at Thrissur. After the treatment she was taken to their ancestral house at Engandiyur. She lost all hopes of a married life since Narendran withdrew from the marriage. In despair, she made two attempts for suicide by jumping into water but she was rescued by fishermen. She was advised by a famous doctor and she gradually returned to normalcy. She learnt to write with left hand and learned Malayalam language. She tried for a job in Kerala for 3 years but in vain. Finally, she was taken to Delhi again and there also she did not get an employment. She was taken to Shimla by her brother, Suresh who was an engineer in NTPC. With his help she got admission for PhD and became a college lecturer. She recaptured her life, learned driving and later one hand donated by a brain dead lady was transplanted to her. This was a morale booster. Lishitha and her parents decided to settle in Shimla. She adopted a lovely girl aged 5, named Samantha from an orphanage. She goes in search of her biological parents and found them out. Her old friend Renjith Singh who had passed Civil service and was working as Dy Commissioner in Shimla was her father .There are many twists and turns to the story and she started a home for disabled children called Snehalayam. Ultimately, Dr Renjith Singh came to meet Lishitha and accepted Samantha as his daughter.
