My name is "Jiggin' Jack" Beeler. Where, you may wonder, did I get a name like Jiggin' Jack? Well, it's a nickname some of my fishing buddies gave me after watching me at work...fishing! I fish with a hand rod and have developed a method of slowly working the line up and down which most always catches fish. I've done it ever since I can remember! Why change if it works?I have now lived three-quarters of a century. I am "retired" and bored out of my gourd, so to speak. After the exciting and adventuresome life I've lived, I was looking for some cause or project to capture my interest completely that my not-so-young body could actually do and enjoy! Some might call it a mid-life crisis but, I'll tell you right now, I'm way past that!About a year ago, I found a project! I was encouraged to write my autobiography. My Dad's only brother has a daughter named Barbara who is a couple of years younger. When we were growing up, she lived in California and her family would travel to Utah during canning season. Therefore, we cousins saw each other nearly every summer. Recently Barbara and her husband Ron visited us when they returned to the lower 48 after living in Alaska for six years. They shared a book they published about the first part of Ron's life which I read and really enjoyed. They said I'd had a much more interesting life than either of them and it would be a shame not to share it.
