Born in Lucknow on 12th January 1939 and educated at St . Vincents High School. Pune, India. Entered the National Defence Academy, Kharakwasla, Pune in June 1955 and passed out from the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in December 1959. He was commissioned into the Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Regiment, saw action against the Chinese in 1962, and against Pakistan in 1965. Postgraduate in Defence Studies from the Frunze Military Academy in Moscow. As an infantry officer served in active field areas along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir for nearly two decades Commanded 1st Battalion the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles in the active Poonch Sector. And as a Brigade Commander 161 Infantry Brigade in the strategic Hajipir-Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Also served as a senior instructor at the Indian Army's War College in Mhow and was Commandant of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles Regimental Centre at Jabalpur. Last posting as Deputy General Officer Commanding the Maharashtra and Gujarat Area was in Mumbai and from where he retired in January 1993, from 1993 to1997 served as Chief Security Adviser to The Bank of India. And thereafter from 1998-2006 as a Consultant and Advisor to Piaggio Vehicles an Italian Multinational. Has travelled widely across Europe, erstwhile Soviet Union, Bangladesh, Singapore, Thailand, and the United States. Fond of reading history and biographies of eminent world leaders. He is the author of the book 'Nothing But!' A 3770 page saga of important historical events of the 20th century though fictional characters. And author of 'The 9/11 Al-Qaida Band of Terrorist Brothers.' 'Lest The World Forgets, ' 'Love Has No Religion.'
