Description

It's a new line of attack. Terrorists plant tiny bombs in cars' gas tanks in Jersey City, New Jersey. The resulting explosions sow fear and confusion in the hearts of residents and flummox the FBI and police. The unlikely hero, Efren Baleleng - a Muslim FBI informer and a suspect as one of the masterminds - is drawn ever closer to his handler, FBI boss Ed Wilson. The two, aided by a phalanx of topnotch terrorist hunters, embark on the nearly impossible task of identifying and capturing the perpetrators, a group whose existence was unknown and unsuspected prior to and immediately following the explosions. The book presents the unfolding drama from the points of view of the new and emerging Muslim terrorists group, Soldiers of the Prophet. Because it has no known connections to Al Qaeda, the group is able to blindside the FBI and Homeland Security. It operated completely under the radar until that fateful night when cars' gas tanks exploded on a busy Jersey City street. The first break comes when the son of one of the terrorists' facilitators jumps off the suicide bridge on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. The gripping conversation between the student and his dad immediately before the student jumps is one of the highlights of the story, which takes its characters in a meandering terrorist hunt and narrow escapes. Phil Mejia, whose office suffers extensive damage from the gas tank explosions, is drawn into the hunt. One of the main characters in the first book of the trilogy - Sons, Daughters and Wine Tasters - Mejia plays a minor role in this second book. He goes into depression as he realizes that his life is a life of loss and redemption and that the duality of his existence is both tiring and heartbreaking. Most of the characters in ...And Soldiers resume their journeys through life in the third and final book, ...And Fathers, which explores the relationships between fathers and sons and fathers and daughters, and the relationship between one
