Walter Gordon taught English literature for five years at Loyola-Marymount University and for twenty-eight years at the University of Georgia, where he retired as professor emeritus. In addition to published articles and poems, Gordon is the author of the book "Humanist Play and Belief: The Seriocomic Art of Desiderius Erasmus." He currently is completing a book about violence in the works of Thomas More.
