Welcome to our Hospital for this second edition of the Arrixaca International Grand Rounds in which real clinical cases will be presented with two main aims: first to discuss them within the group of outstanding experts gathered here today, and second, to have this discussion in an intimate and friendly atmosphere, interaction aided through the use of a single language, English, which while not the first language of most of those present, is clearly the international language of Paediatrics and Medicine today. To that end, I would like to express the thanks of the Arrixaca University Hospital to the four professors with us today, without whose presence these sessions would be valueless: Professor Schuster from the Univeristy Hospital of Dusseldorf, Professor de Baets from the University of Ghent in Belgium, and Professor Dinwiddie from Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, all of whom attended last year; and Professor Götz from Wilhemina Children's University Hospital in Vienna who has been kind enough to join us for the first time this year. I do not want to forget the speakers who have made huge efforts to present their cases - I am certain that diagnosis and treatment were complex challenges- and they now have to present them in front of an eminent audience. Events such as the one we are participating in today have great value, not just in sharing and improving knowledge, but also in the creation of international links between like minded professionals, a network that is sure to be of great help as we attend the children in our care. The pursuit of excellence is a key aim of Murcia Health System and it is for this reason above all that the Hospital support these Rounds.
