We will begin with China, where we find Confucianism, Taoism, Legalism and other early thought systems, plus later developments in Chinese Buddhism and Neo-Confucianism. In Japan we will review several varieties of Buddhism, including the Pure Land and Zen traditions, and the ancient religion of Shinto.
