In this, the third volume of the Out of the Mist series, we meet Gwen, a talented musician, who is visited by the spirit of the lake next to her small town of Bala, Wales. Unbeknownst to her, that spirit gave her the powers of the ancient Bard, Taliesin. Myth and legend tell of his powers of clairvoyance, as well as his ability to tell the future. Together with her brother, Auryn, they form a band called "The Taliesin Twins".At the first concert of their introductory tour, that power manifests as she is swept into a trance, revealing in her song some of the activities of the Ancients, as well as some dire predictions of danger to come. Unfortunately for her, many of those Ancients become aware of her during that trance, including Ceridwen, Taliesin's old foe, and mother of Creirwy ferch Tegid Foel, who is now going by the name Chance.Charise, in search of her surviving friends, rescues Gwen from capture by Ceridwen's agents, putting her firmly in the crosshairs formerly reserved for Devon, Elisabeth, and Rob. Devon, who has found out Charise is working for Astar, the Ancient who ordered their deaths, witnesses Charise's rescue of the singer and gives pursuit through the streets of Chicago.Gwen is swept up in the mayhem that results. How is she going to accomplish the mission she's been given, to find and convey greetings to Creirwy from her father, Tegid Foel? And which, if any, of these mortal beings will survive the intricate plots of the Ancient immortals who pursue them all? Third volume of Out of the Mist, following Ancient Memory and Apache Moon.
