When the Village of Hades overtime fell into the control of a system of despotism, the citizens of the community found themselves trapped in substandard living with ever increasing restrictions of their human and civil rights. While the people of Hades spent their energy and time bickering and consumed with the trivial distractions of life, the Baker and Stevens' clan led by the despot Big Jim Baker were literally seizing total control of their community. The Baker and Stevens' clan were successfully partnered with powerful allies in the state government that aided the family in their corrupt activities. The Baker family and their powerful political friends reaped great profits from their illegal activities that reached the international markets. The Baker and Stevens' families controlled nearly every business entity that existed in the community. After several auto salvage yard workers began to mysteriously disappear leaving too many unanswered questions for their widows and children, a newly appointed young Baptist minister, a local Catholic priest, and a local Pentecostal minister started holding secret meetings to address the problems that the people of the community were faced with. Rev. Jonathan Page, Father Peter Dunning, and Rev. Clifford Banks were not sure how they would pursue the challenge, nevertheless they were all in total agreement that they would have to find a way to help the people of the Hades community regain their precious civil liberties and free themselves from the control of a system of despotism. Fully aware that they were potentially putting their personal lives in grave danger, the clergymen courageously challenged the evil system of despotism in their pursuit to end the spirit of Cerberus that had captured their community. "Behind the Gate" is a mystery thriller that represents a sober reminder of what can happen when citizens become too complacent and trusting, allowing others to lead with unquestionable authority.
