The plans revealed that the Germans intended to violate the neutrality of The Netherlands and Belgium and invade Western Europe across northern Belgium opposite the Ruhr Valley, the traditional invasion route taken by invading armies. When it became clear that their operational plans had been recovered by their enemies, the Germans made crucial changes -- and. set off a chain events that led to one of the most shocking military defeats in history. This book tells that story while focusing on the lives of ordinary people caught up in the events.
