After months of exceptional drought, a gloomy gray smoke crept over the mountain landscape of East Tennessee. It blotted out the sun and made breathing difficult. The smoke - the result of wildfires. The fires started in forests that had become tinder-boxes in East Tennessee and surrounding states, and they fed off of accumulated leaf-litter that had collected for decades and now covered the forest floor. Then, in November, gale-force winds reached 90+ mph and drove the inferno to destroy everything in its path. Humans and animals alike fled, seeking refuge. Hot-shots from across the country arrived to combat the flames alongside local firefighters. Pilots of helicopters and planes dumped water and chemicals onto the inferno in an effort to snuff-out the flames. A whole array of first responders assisted the evacuation of thousands. Not everyone survived. Inspired by true events, this adventure explores the rampaging forest fires experienced by The Great Smokey Mountains National Park in 2016. No explanation has ever been discovered for how the fires started. However, it is known that the fires were fed by the ingredients of extreme and extraordinary drought that year, and then driven by gale-force winds. This recipe for disaster serves up multiple adventures for Boone, a chocolate Labrador Retriever who lives in the mountains with his family. Boone is courageous, loyal and clever. However, when the wild fires begin, more help is required than one dog can provide. Boone's invaluable characteristics alone aren't enough to protect his friends, family and mountain home from the cataclysmic events. As Boone and his friends face this adventure with characteristic tenacity, opportunities arise for new heroes to emerge and take action.
